Milky Flakes is a family-run milk shop in Walnut Creek: one ingredient, obsessed over, frozen three ways, with no freezer in the kitchen.
The shop came first. The full website is on its way.

People call us an ice cream shop, and we love that. But here’s a confession: this is really a milk shop.

Airy: a frozen product, but the feeling is warm.

Dense and creamy, straight from the churners it was made in.

Everything freezes out front, in batches made fresh daily, and is served straight from the machines it was made in.
It started with a family that takes dessert a little too seriously. A serious sweet tooth for anything ice cream, and the habits that grow out of one: reading ingredient lists, studying texture, noting serving temperatures like they mattered. To us, they did. We’re not experts, and we never want to pretend to be. We went at it from first principles (understand the science, respect the craft, improve a little at a time), with friends who helped us build the shop.
We hold ourselves to one question:
Does this taste like the best we can achieve?
